BLOOM & LO

Travel Tuesday. The Scottish Highlands.

It's been years since I've set my eyes on this mountainous landscape. I remember feeling so small and unimportant as we drove amidst the sky-scraping peaks of the Highlands. They were distinguished, yet unpretentious because, as James Thurber put it so perfectly, "Beautiful things don't ask for attention."

The Highland cows must have greatly outnumbered any human population, but the few mountaineers spotted exploring the glens gave me hope that the views were not going to waste, that people were experiencing their beauty and giving them the attention they unknowingly deserve.
